My portraits are for people who believe that life is too precious to be entrusted to disposable, digital snapshots. Unlike others options, a quality painting becomes an heirloom that your great-great-grandchildren will be grateful you had the insight to commission.
Pricing
Pictures are priced by the square inch. In this way you can calculate the prices and everything is transparent. I use popular, standard sizes, but if you want a custom size, I can do that, too. Sizing is in inches.
4 x 4; 8 x 10; 9 x 12; 16 x 20; 18 x 24; 30 x 40
Portraits (oil color)
The smallest portrait I’ll do is 4 x 4. You can see examples above. This is the only size that the formula does not apply. A 4 x 4 portrait is $75.00. At this size you can only get one subject.
For all other sizes, my current rate is $3.12 per square inch. For example, if you are interested in an 8 x 10 painting, you would calculate the square inches: 8 x 10 = 80, then multiply by 3.12 = $249.00
9 x 12 is the smallest size in which you can add a second subject. Additional subjects are $100 at this size.
At 16 x 20 to 30 x 40 there is no additional charge for a second subject.
Prices for portraits with more than 2 subjects will be negotiated and will vary depending on complexity.
All Other Oil Paintings
4 x 4; $3.12 per square inch
8 x 10 to 9 x 12; $2.90 per square inch
18 x 24; $2.25 per square inch
30 x 40; $2.00 per square inch
Ink Drawings
5 x 7 ink drawings are $30.00, plus postage and handling (in the US: $3.00; international will vary)
